Before You Begin
Proper reconstitution is critical for maintaining peptide integrity and ensuring accurate research results. Always work in a clean environment and use sterile technique.
Required Materials
- Lyophilized peptide vial
- Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) or sterile water
- Alcohol swabs
- Insulin syringes (for precise measurement)
- Calculator (or use our online reconstitution calculator)
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Preparation Allow the peptide vial to reach room temperature. Clean the vial stopper with an alcohol swab.
Step 2: Add Solvent Slowly inject the bacteriostatic water along the inside wall of the vial. Never inject directly onto the lyophilized powder.
Step 3: Gentle Mixing Gently swirl the vial -do NOT shake vigorously. Allow the peptide to dissolve completely. This may take several minutes.
Step 4: Verification The solution should be clear and colorless. If cloudy or with particulates, do not use.
Step 5: Storage Store reconstituted peptides at 2-8°C (refrigerator). Most reconstituted peptides are stable for 21-30 days.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Injecting water directly onto the powder
- Shaking the vial vigorously
- Using non-sterile technique
- Storing at room temperature after reconstitution
- Using past the recommended timeframe
